Today In Corvair History ~ GM announces end of production on the Corvair

Today in Corvair history, we go back to 1969 when on May 9th, GM officially announces the end of production on our beloved Chevrolet Corvair.

During its lifespan, there were over 1.8 million Corvairs produced. Sedans, coupes, convertibles, wagons, trucks and vans were among its fleet along with one of the first mass produced turbo charged engines available in the Spyder and Corsa, respectively.

While many other manufactures and marquees can boast of longer production runs, none can match what the Corvair accomplished in the time it accomplished it. From the first horn slot sedan off the line in 1959 to #6000 in 1969, the Corvair was truly revolutionary!

Cry not for the end of Corvair production, but celebrate the Corvairs that are still happily putting down the road 57+ years later & the ones undergoing restorations to former glory. Celebrate the clubs and owners (and vendors!) who have adopted and cared for these Detroit misfits and continue to parade them around for new generations to enjoy.
