Updates From Yesterday’s SFBA Zoom Meeting

Thanks to everyone who was able to attend yesterday’s monthly SFBA club meeting. With 14 members in attendance, our unintentional experiment to see if sending the “Christy Link” had an effect in attendance proved true!

Clark will share the minutes summary in next month’s Spyder Web, but in advance of that, we had a few bullet points that we wanted to get out in advance of the paper copy.

  • Buck Jones has signed on to relieve Harry Kypreos of his duties as treasurer. Thanks Buck! Also, thank you again to Harry for the many years volunteering as VP and treasurer.

  • You spoke, we listened. Based on last week’s survey and messages, a majority were in favor of upgrading the club website to allow plugins. The first plugin we want to try out is having a local forum where members can interact with one another. While there are two Corvair forums (CCF run by Corsa and the Corvair Forum run by FlatSix Graphics) and endless groups on Facebook, we believe that trying this can centralize & strengthen our community locally. The club members in last nights meeting voted unanimously in favor of the move.

  • Regarding the holiday lunch, we looked over the menu for Lara’s Fine Dining at the Richmond Marina. Following the meeting, a request was made and we are waiting to hear back. We will keep you up to date so you can plan to attend!

  • The public are curious about Corvairs! When you take your Corvair out people are drawn to them. You all know this! We are looking at ideas to give more exposure to the Corvair, our club and CORSA through a QR code placard, magnet or static cling that you can easily display and store away. Early stages, so stay tuned!

Lastly, we have quite a few new members and subscribers. Welcome! Not only are these fine people new to our club, but many are new to the Corvair. While at the early stages of your Corvair journey, we cannot recommend enough joining the Corvair Society of America. With every new 26 month full membership, you will receive a copy of the Corvair Basics book for free. This book is essential for all new (and even some old) Corvair owners.

If you are already a CORSA member and still want a copy of Corvair Basics, you can purchase one here.

Another book that should be within reach in your Corvair library is How To Keep Your Corvair Alive by Richard Finch.

Thanks to Seth for reminding us of the importance of having these publications to better understand your Corvair.

Let us know if you have any questions or if any important topics from last nights meeting were missed. This club belongs to all of us, so your voice is very important.
