Being enthusiasts, some might call us “nuts”, we often see more Corvairs in the wild than your run of the mill car enthusiast or non-enthusiast civilian. This will lead folks to say things like; “Corvairs are rare!”, “Didn’t the government ban those?”, “They really made them for ten years?!” etc etc.
So, if you are new to our community or just want a refresher…. below are the production numbers for the Chevrolet Corvair. Corvair by the numbers!
With thanks to Glenn Herring for putting together this handy chart many years ago.
As you can see, there were over a million Corvairs produced during its run in the 1960’s! 1961 had the highest production year turnout with the 1962 Monza coupe being the most produced of all of the models. This was the height of Corvair fever just before the lawyer, the horse and the muscle heads came in and spoiled the party.

Print up a copy of the sheet for the next time someone asks about how many of “your” Corvair were made. If you are really into these factoids, there is a whole book of them available at Clarks Corvair Parts.
