No, this isn’t a vintage Kodak print. This is SFBA member Jeffrey Ross at his mid century home with his mid century 61 Monza

SFBA member Jeffrey Ross has an eye for design and an appreciation for mid century style. He reached out to the club a few years ago looking for a Corvair to enjoy. Obviously, he has good taste and we were obliged to help.

The club would send him leads on Corvairs and each time, he would report back that it wasn’t the right one.

Jeffrey saw that The Corvair Preservation Foundation was raffling off a beautifully restored 1961 Monza. Black with red interior.

On a whim, he bought a few tickets thinking that it would be a nice donation to the foundation.

He won!

Upon getting the car home home, he got deep into the weeds of Corvair maintenance, repair, and preservation. Before long, this little black beauty could be found cruising out to Ocean Beach in San Francisco and all the way down to Valley territory in the South Bay.

Concern of driving a car that was “too nice”, Jeffrey found a really nice late model and, with help and guidance from Mel Raven at Mel’s Vairmart in Santa Clara, got that car on the road. He is currently tackling his first engine rebuild. Another story for a future post.

At the San Luis Obispo convention getting ready for concourse judging.

This year, Jeffrey took his 61 Monza down to San Luis Obispo for the CORSA National Convention and got it judged at the concourse where it finished bronze. With a concourse judging under his belt, he plans to get this car judged again at a future local concourse event.

We are proud to have Jeffrey as a member of our SFBA family and thank him for sharing his Corvair story with you. His passion and love of Corvairs are a true asset to our club, the Corvair Community and to the classic car hobby.

Jeffrey’s Corvair (both of them!) are really beautiful. He’s been a great caretaker for these cars. Wishing him the best for Ironstone!
