You ask, we listen. The club receives quite a bit of correspondence via email…and Facebook messenger, and instagram messenger… sometimes I’ll still even get phone calls and hand written letters!
A topic that comes up often enough where I thought it would be worth taking a straw poll on is a having central area where members can ask for help, advice, where to source parts, sell parts, comment on things, etc.
With the internet being so fragmented these days, it might be worth considering setting up our own local forum here on sfbacorsa.com. This forum would be moderated by at least one SFBA member to keep out spam, trolls, and other undesirables.
Currently, I oversee this site, the club email account, instagram account and, along with Tony, the Facebook page account (Thanks for your help there Tony!). I think it’s important to have these channels available to club members and to local Corvair owners, but it can be a lot to juggle all of them.
So, a potential solution is to direct all incoming questions to a little forum that we run and contribute to.
Sounds great, right? Ok, here’s the rub. Adding a fourm plugin will require us to upgrade our current service. We are paid up on our current account, so we would get this upgrade at a discounted additional rate of $12.50/month. This would be a one time upgrade on our current 3 year account for the amount of $446.50
The upgrade also opens us up to the unlimited plugins that WordPress offers, and a lot of other website mumbo jumbo that only a small percentage of us would understand.
So, what say you? Should we try this? Is there interest in a localized forum? Please take the time to answer the poll. If you have additional questions or comments, let us know. Dues paying members replies will be weighted as they have some financial skin in the game.
Thanks for taking the time to give feedback. We can discuss further at next week’s zoom meeting.
